Viridis Homes offers fundamental solutions to the housing, energy and environmental crises. Our homes are unique in their achievement of Level 5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) by being modular, affordable and sustainable.

Why should we consider sustainable solutions?

In 2004 more than a quarter of the UK's CO₂ emissions came from the energy we use to build, heat light and run our homes. That is over 25% of our total CO₂ emissions. In order to significantly reduce these emissions, it is vital to ensure that homes are built in a way that minimises the use of energy and reduces harmful emissions, which are continuing at a rate of about 70 million tons per day.

Viridis Homes provides a solution to the outdated and unviable production methods conventionally used – we have created the UK’s first Level 5 modular home. Our revolutionary new homes will reduce heating costs by using advanced insulation and energy saving techniques. In fact, Viridis homes are over 84% towards being carbon neutral at Level 5 of the CSH. This is an outstanding achievement which translates into massive savings for everyone, not least for the environment.

Why choose a Level 5 home?

A Level 5 home will provide Registered Social Landlords with a considerable competitive advantage for funding applications, as the developments would gain greater funding merit. In addition, the low cost of a Viridis home combined with its energy saving credentials, means that all parties will benefit.

Choosing sustainability

Timber, as a green construction material, cannot be bettered and is a renewable resource. During its growth period, a tree removes tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and contributes oxygen at the same time.

All timber used in our houses is supplied either from the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification or from Forest Stewardship Council certified sources. The Forest Stewardship Council certified forests are managed to ensure long term timber supplies while protecting the environment and the lives of forest-dependent peoples. It is this that enables us to buy forest products of all kinds with confidence in the fact that we are not contributing to global deforestation; for every tree used several more are planted.
